DD Councils

'Tuesdays with Liz' is a weekly video series highlighting current issues in disability policy. It is hosted by Liz Weintraub, a long-time disability advocate, and produced by AUCD. In a recent episode, Liz interviews Tawara Goode, director of the Georgetown UCEDD, about what culture and diversity mean, how culture influences perceptions and beliefs about disability, and cultural considerations in healthcare.

Below are a couple of ideas for how your DD Council may be able to utilize this great resource:

· To educate DD Council members (add to your orientation materials for new members, highlight the video at a DD Council meeting)

· To support health care initiatives, share with grantees, providers, families and advocates.

· Highlight on your website. Some DD Councils have cultural and linguistic competence webpages with similar information.

· Add to your DD Awareness Month Campaign content (March is DD Awareness Month!)
